In the artist's own words: "Summer 2021, Greece. The Ministry of Tourism launches a campaign for the tourist season of 2021 under the slogan “All You Want Is Greece”. The out-of-control fires that burst around Greece however, strongly disagree. Grandma Panagiota, desperately seeing the fire approaching her house in North Evia and not being able to find her husband, unintentionally reconstructs Edvard Munch’s The Scream in a new, evergreen context. The painting “∞Old Lady∞” is an ode to the human emotions. Despair prevails, agony for the human life, hers, her husband’s and her people’s, and suddenly Munch’s “blood red” clouds turn into the golden color of the surrounding fires. Her scream echoes grief and sorrow, in the same way Mother Nature devastatingly screams for the loss of her children. The recirculating echo was subconsciously illustrated through the direction my brushes followed. Grandma Panagiota, the famous “Old Lady”, struggles to keep herself into her feet and through the lens of Kostantinos Tsakalids, photographer, enters the covers of “The Guardian”, “The Daily Telegraph”, etc. and subsequently eternity.
