In 1944, the building was loaned to the Royal Canadian Navy for the duration of the war to care for soldiers wounded in action.A WREN honour guard participated in the opening of the Peter Holt Home in march 1944. At that time, it was named "Peter Holt House" in honour of the owner's son who had died in action a year earlier. The building was subsequently acquired by the Children's Memorial Hospital in the late 1940s and sold in 1956 to the Brothers of Charity for use as a monastery and student residence. Finally, since the late 1960s, the house has been returned to its original residential function.
