Cardboard Installation
This piece references Salvador Dali’s mustache as a cultural icon for portraying the surrealist vividness of dreams and the infiltration of the mind in psychoanalysis, inspired by Dali’s installation in the dream sequence of Hitchcock’s Spellbound. Its rollercoaster-shaped length, divine flotation and abandoned silk cushion describe the artist’s intangible legacy and glorified persona. The bizarre contrast between pitch-black mustache and retro-red vintage heels reflects the processes within Dali’s often drug-induced mind, used to alter his creative identity - guiding himself and the viewer into the subconscious.
