The zebu, sometimes known in the plural as humped cattle, is a species or subspecies of domestic cattle originating in the Indian sub-continent. Zebu are characterised by a fatty hump on their shoulders, a large dewlap, and sometimes drooping ears…. The major zebu cattle breeds of the world include Gyr, Kankrej and Guzerat, Indo-Brazilian, Brahman, Sibi Bhagnari, White Nukra, Acchai, Cholistani, Dhanni,…
Zebu were considered "ecological" since they could graze on natural grasses. Introduced extensively after 1933 because they could adapt to harsh tropical climatic and environmental conditions. Initial evolvement of the Australian Brahman began in Queensland, north of the Tropic of Capricorn.
Zebu bulls can be quite aggressive about protecting their territory and breeding rights. Because of the physical size and large horns, this animal is not to be tussled with. Unless you're a professional herder or farmer, it is best to let them be.
Sleep in the day for cattle is about 4 hours, so I’m told, and the dewlap a biological wonder to keep the heart cool.
