As a roller skater colour field painter, Jean has explored the evolution of her craft using wheels as paintbrushes over the last twenty years. The use of wheels has become so normal and natural in our society, that you might not think of Jean as an artist who works with technology; her work embraces technology, only earlier iterations of technology. “I use technology to paint with my body”

The development of the wheel is a significant shift in our sense of time and consumption. The speed of machines that have facilitated changes in daily life and choices about equity. We may be a more capitalist society due to this technological advancement.

Jean’s work invites us to pause and to think about how certain technologies, including the wheel, might be used for more than just productivity but rather art and beauty; “ I like how my work brings joy to the way in which we think about moving forward. Like all other artists, I too have the possibility to use AI in my practice. However, my ultimate joy is in the feeling that connects my body to the ground and nature. My artwork captures the possibility of creating art and aesthetic pleasure that can continue to exist despite AI generated art, and alongside all these other changes. The integration of the body with technology captures a romantic and joyous outlook that can not be generated by AI in isolation to the human body, but only with the interaction of humans and their developing technology.
