With this series i want to make clear how the environment determines my emotional state. I create images from emotions out of my own life and my specific inner self. I project these emotions on the image of a fellow man in the search for a like-minded, sometimes recognizable - sometimes shrouded in a mysterious silence. I venture into the almost impossible task of objectifying emotions in a single image and well-considered environment. Often my aim is to create related images that somehow reinforce each other and/or show how environment and emotions influence or flow into each other. The solidarity is determined by the interplay of light and shadow, of sensitive colours, of the combination of architecture and portrait, of lines and surfaces with an extra frame. How decisive the environment can be is shown not only by the difference between, for example, the nostalgia or melancholy of an older building versus the innovative power of contemporary architecture, but also by the tension between realism and symbolism. The viewer retains the freedom to give his own interpretation of the story and in the end he alone decides whether the image in question evokes a negative or a positive connotation too him. Finally, this series was for me a liberating search for the deep valley of my emotions, a form of self-observation and introspection. My images emerge from deep human contacts and a continious intensive look at the dynamic environment. I decide which environment i choose, how i experience it and which emotion will be reflectedin the image in question. Inevitably i manipulate the complexity of the environment / emotion to a greater or lesser extent by among other things, sketching a strong geometric framework and maintaining a well-considered symmetry.
