A patch of wasteland near my home. Owned by the council, once used for driving practice, this is now fenced off and plants are pushing through the surface again.

My work is inspired by local landscapes, where I regularly walk. I usually paint with oils, sometimes en plein air.

I am interested in recreating the atmosphere of a place or walk at a given time, rather than geographical landmarks specific to that place. Weather conditions and light quality are of particular importance in my paintings which are typically people-less spaces. Stillness from contemplation, ominous skies, and distant hopeful horizons feature in many of my works, while others show movement through the landscape.
