Bottle, 1347-70

The inscription on this bottle praises Sayf al-Din Jurji, who served the Mamluk Sultan Hasan of Egypt in the mid 14th century. The motif with two dots and two stripes in the upper register of the body is a stylized penbox and indicates his high rank in the Sultan’s household.
