Vase , 130-1368
Porcelain

This pear-shaped vase was a popular export item, with examples found as far afield as Africa and as near as Indonesia. This version has with a copper red design with and a chrysanthemum scroll pattern. This pigment is notoriously difficult to fire and ceramics painted with copper red are rare. Chrysanthemums are associated with the autumn, longevity, and Confucian values of steadfastness.(
