My work is created using slate, painted with paint pens. It is inspired by various outdoor swimming and mermaiding communities that I've been part of for several years. Both communities have much in common, including being inclusive and kind, friendly, and welcoming, and also that everyone is different. I've tried to show this in the painting, that everyone is different, and as long as you're kind and respect one another, everyone is welcome.

The scene shown in the artwork might be a lake or bit of river surrounded by trees and beach, with a rainbow overhead. There are some swimmers and a merperson in the water. With swimmers are 'towfloats', small inflatables that outdoor swimmers use to aid with visibility and to keep items safe.
