Within the grasp of my mother’s iron clad rule, under the pretext of innocence, my duplicity grew in the shadows. Her fear of her good little Bengali daughter in a foreign man’s land, only a premonition to who I’d become, once she let me go.

About the Artist:

Pride is an essential aspect of who I am as a British-Bengali queer content creator. It is because of the past efforts of many queer people that I can now live my queer identity with pride. It is because of them, I am now able to utilise my knowledge and experiences to display subordinate groups and taboo topics of South Asia. Furthermore, no other South Asian marginalized community experiences discrimination to the same extent as South Asian women and LGBTQ+ people, who serve as the primary subjects of my artwork and through which I unveil their struggles.
Pride is who I am. My freedom stems from Pride. Pride is why I create art for those who share the same joy and suffering as me.
