This piece is an expression of queer pride. It's inspired by the idea of pride being something deep within that cannot be taken away, no matter how loud the bigots may become. Whether your pride dances boldly at a queer club, is held softly between you and your partner, or has yet to be spoken aloud, the glow within remains, and there's nothing anyone can do to change that. The body being soft, hairy and gender non-conforming, and glowing in rainbow light celebrates queer bodies and expression and highlights the beauty in living outside the cis-het norm.

The figure dancing while holding their heart is meant to capture both the glory and pain within pride - a feeling of dancing as rebellion. Pride has always been a riot, and at Stone Wall one of the ways folks rebelled before the violence broke out was by facing down armed police in a kick line - then fighting tooth and nail when the police became violent. That's the spirit I wanted to capture here.
