Ballerina

The Ballerina piece was created in support of my cousin. She has been having a hard time with her family's rejection of her true self. She is a dancer, and this was dedicated to her.

The ballerina is a silhouette of a dancer with blended, colourful swirls. The vibrant, rainbow-colored swirls echo diversity and pride. The ballerina embodies grace and freedom, reflecting the community's values of authentic self-expression and living true to one's identity.

The strength and resilience required for ballet mirror the LGBTQ+ community's perseverance in the face of challenges Additionally, the fluid, swirling colours represent the spectrum of gender and sexual identities, emphasizing fluidity and diversity. As a piece of art, the painting celebrates independence, creativity, individual stories, and the collective pride of the LGBTQ+ community.
