Graphite in water on canvas
for sale

My journey into doing abstract art was initialized by my fascination for the cracks and patches in the asphalt of the streets and the pavements.
Those cracks and patches which are hardly recognized by most of the people were so beautiful to me that till then I wasn’t able to look away from them.
I started to do some drawings with graphite pencils, showing the beauty of what I found in the damaged parts of the streets that I walk every day.
Then one day, as I drained the sharpener, I became aware of the remains that had accumulated there.
I was captured by the idea of mixing those remains with water in different proportions and then use this as a material for my works on canvas.
The way of working with the mix of water and graphite powder on the canvas is a very intuitive and silent one. Like a dialogue between the canvas, the material and me.
Once having poured some of the water mix on the canvas, I take the whole canvas in my hands and start to move it, so that the water with the graphite can find its place on the canvas.
It is a little bit like a slow and silent dance and it is the arising picture that tells me if I have to give it more material and when I have to stop pouring or moving.
This whole process of working to me is one of the most peaceful things I can do in a world so loud and chaotic and I’m also fascinated by what different people see in my pictures.
There is no right and no wrong.
Just being in the moment.
That’s what I love so much about doing abstract art."
