My name is Nazir. I am an asylum seeker, having escaped from misunderstanding and hatred to find my happiness where the promise of freedom and equality is not an empty sound. As a gay man, my family rejected me and my husband because of our love, but we decided not to give up in the face of injustice.

With every frame, I show how every moment of my new life is filled with hope and possibilities. My photographs bear witness to our strength and our striving for happiness and safety.

Here, in the United Kingdom, we are building a new world illuminated by love and understanding. And each of my photographs is a small piece of this new life of ours, filled with light and joy.
