Meghan Lewis MacLeod is a contemporary, mixed media painter inspired by innovation through spontaneity and is continually influenced by dynamic symbolism, natural cycles, and expressions of the archetypal psyche. The design emphasis of her paintings is intended to evoke a confluence of contemplative reprieve, renewal, and personal insight. The art of af Klint, Chicago, Frankenthaller, Mendieta, and Ringgold move and amuse her with endless metavisual inspiration.
Meghan’s formal studio art education at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, centered mixed media and transpersonal art which led to her doctoral specializations in ecofeminist art therapy and perinatal mental health at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, Palo Alto, CA. She is the founding Director of the LGBTQ Perinatal Wellness Center and maintains a creative arts-based coaching, counseling, and consultation practice for artists as well as clients in the family formation process. She enjoys immensely her studio with a water view in Sausalito at the ICB Building.
Meghan facilitates the National Women’s Caucus for Art LGBTQ+ member pod meetings and is a member of the SF City Art Cooperative Gallery as well as the SF Women Artists Gallery. Her work will be featured in SF Design District’s Room & Board showroom during SFOS and has been shown at Bay Area West Elm showrooms, juried into exhibits at CAMi Art + Wine Gallery, (Calistoga), Charles Krug Winery, (St. Helena), Voss Gallery, (SF), Arc Gallery & Studios, (SF), Uptown Fine Art Gallery, (Oakland), O’Hanlon Center for the Arts, (Mill Valley), Marin Society of Artists, (San Rafael), Women Made Gallery, (Chicago) among many others. Additionally, her work is commissioned by collectors across the country and is held in private collections internationally.
