My work is influenced by German Expressionists, using simple tools like pastels/ink/pencil, and paper product surfaces to create emotional connections & journeys. I am primarily focused on capturing the spirit of my subjects by encouraging viewers to complete each image with their own thoughts and dreams. The visual message is in the viewers search for individual meaning through each subject. I’ve always seen the act of drawing & painting as more than storytelling, mark making or visual notation, but rather a conversation and shared experience with those who engage with it. My images are often human, botanical, or environmental studies and constructed from an emotional search for content and structure rather than sight measurement and light management.
