There’s nothing better for making you feel good than knowing you are achieving something, getting somewhere.  There are many inspiring stories about Stuart and his time at the Liverpool College of Art.

Arthur Ballard, the Liverpool art legend, had little sympathy with the view held by some of Stuart’s tutors - that he was running before he could walk. Arthur disdained their argument that Stuart had moved on too quickly…

“Stuart was one of the most creative and original students he had experienced in 50 years of teaching.” He said he met few students ... if any, who had that spark that is genius. It was astonishing praise for such a young artist. Arthur was so overtaken by Stuart’s abilities that he said he forgot he was a student and regarded him as a fellow artist.  Arthur would go and watch Stuart paint for hours - and then they would go to the Cracke (pub) and analyze the work…Seeds of Greatness.
