Morning , 2009
5 x 3.9 in (h x w)

Pageant of the Masters re-creation of “Morning” by Maxfield Parrish for the 2009 production, “The Muse.”

Sue Lewin was sixteen when she was hired to help care for the children of Maxfield Parrish and his wife in 1905. That same year, Parrish asked her to pose for his painting, "Land of Make Believe," beginning a collaboration and relationship that was to last for 55 years. For one mural series that took five years to complete, she posed for nearly all of the 200 figures, both male and female. The Pageant has re-created this artwork many times in its history, the earliest was in the 1940s.
