A flag for a future feminist universe composed of black and white thermal infrared video stills from Lucas' experimental films. Thermal infrared imaging reveals actual luminous energy, revealing subtle changing light in corporeal and inanimate objects, one senses that we are truly beings of light, as we come from the stars and return to the universe. Shot with extremely heat-sensitive imaging gear, warm areas appear white and cooler areas are black. The imagery depicts a futurist female-identifying being, the Padma Mudra hand gesture used in meditation practice to connect to the heart chakra, and represents loving kindness and healing from emotional trauma, and a pregnant woman's late trimester belly; juxtaposed with NASA/SDO lunar and Milky Way imagery.

Marne Lucas (aka CuntemporaryArtist) is a multidisciplinary artist based in New York, whose practice spans photography, video and sculpture. Her investigations are at the intersection of art, feminism and health, working in conceptual overlaps: life’s energy, the body, mortality and transformation. An infrared video pioneer, she uses imaging technology often used for border or military surveillance to reference the magic and fragility of human existence. She is known for stylistic, on-location portraiture and nudes celebrating the body. Lucas’ current ‘Bardo ∞ Project’ explores creativity as a form of spiritual care as collaborations with terminally ill artists to establish their legacy. Lucas exhibits nationally and internationally such as Plaxall Gallery (NYC), The Brand Library (Los Angeles USA), PICA (Oregon), Fremantle Arts Centre (Perth AU), and Transitional States: Hormones at the Crossroads of Art and Science, a video exhibition at Space Plus, Lincoln, U.K, Peltz Gallery, London, Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona. Marne received a 2018 UMEZ Creative Engagement grant administered by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. www.cuntemporaryartists.com
