My End Is Here , 2020/21
100 x 80 x 2 cm (h x w x d)
Oil on canvas

“My End Is Here” explores an intimate emotional experience of a depressive episode. The depicted figure is slouched and bent in a desperate effort to protect oneself. The twisted and exaggerated anatomy aids to convey the loss of humanity, and the color-scheme, reduced to shades of black, grey and yellow, communicates the hopeless, miserable psychological state. The figure and the surrounding darkness are painted in thick curvilinear expressive brushstrokes, articulating the inner anguish.
