“Teamwork…” is a metaphorical representation of my creative process. It depicts two figures, both of them myself. One figure is caught up in an act of self-sacrifice at the hands of the other, representing the balance of giving and taking that is required in a vulnerable and painful process of creating. The black robe, as well as the polished and realistic skin texture, were influenced by Rembrandt’s “The Anatomy Lesson...”. Kahlo’s oeuvre inspired the anatomy book -esque depiction of the heart.
