Friendship Through A Screen , 2020
[56]

When the teachers told us we would be leaving school because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but that we’d be back in the next two weeks, I believed them. I thought that I’d be able to enjoy my last days as a junior and have my last, first day at school as a senior and that we’d all be back in school and that I would be with all my friends again. However, it’s been almost seven months and I haven’t been able to see my friends in person, the closest we’ve gotten to each other is through text messages and video/ audio phone calls. What this piece is telling about the novel coronavirus pandemic in Los Angeles is the longing of wanting to talk and hang out with my close friends in person. The best thing we can do is talk over the phone because of how busy we’ve been with school over Zoom and because we want to be safe with the pandemic going on.
