The title and text of this work captures arguably the 2020 hip hop and BLM protest anthem of the year, sampled from the viral dance and chant video of 27-year-old South Carolina woman, Johnniqua Charles, in a moment of resistance in the face of uniformed authority, by DJ iMarkkeyz and DJ Suede the Remix God. The work is part of Bey’s Atlantica series, the therapeutic manifestation of April Bey—her origin story and a surreal coping mechanism to deal with existence as a queer Black Femme on Earth.
