"Hand-Formed Grace" #2
20 x 30 in (h x w)
Painting With Light
1957 | Maserati 450S
Designed by Medardo Fantuzzi
Maserati made a new chassis and the talented coachbuilder Medardo Fantuzzi hand-formed a muscular-looking aluminum body along with the installation of a 4477 cc double overhead cam V8. Maserati’s delightful longtime employee Ermanno Cozza says in his book Maserati at Heart that during the engine’s development, its “power output was measured at 412 hp at 7000 rpm…and would accelerate up to maximum revs incredibly quickly without the slightest hesitation.” In other words, Ferrari had nothing that matched it.
