Artemis' Retribution , 2020

I’ve always been drawn to Artemis, her refusal to allow for the male gaze to objectify her, and those among her hunting party. If anyone were to stumble across her (typically bathing in myths) one could find themselves in the form of a stag, ripe for hunting.
I find that I am torn, between wanting to embrace my form, to live freely within this body but also being too aware of the objectifying gaze of others, aware that while my body may be like a piece of art to me, it is meat for feasting to others. I’m still so uncertain of how to walk this line, of desiring to share my body, to freely depict or present my body however I wish (and wherever I wish) but knowing that the outside will do what it can to push this expression into a specific category of shallow desire, of presenting a form to be gazed and objectified.
