Black and white passengers leave from separate ends of a segregated Jim Crow car. In between, workers unload mail and express for exchange with another mixed train of the Georgia and Florida at Swainsboro, Georgia. While the cars were typical in the South during Beebe and Clegg’s time, these photographs have become rare and significant contributions to the historical record of segregation.
