Water Lilies (Nymphéas) , 1907
92.1 x 81 cm (h x w)
2D Oil on Canvas

Have you ever looked at the ripples in water and noticed the different colours that make up the wave? or the soft pinks, greys and blues that make up the seemingly white cloud? I'm impressed!
Impressionism (named after Monet's painting "Impression- Sunrise") is moved by the science of optics, colour theory and light. Among other things, Impressionists tried to show how light and shadow are seen and interpreted by the eye. Painting the lights, shadows and colours accurately becomes more important than the actual subject of the painting.

Take your time, zoom in and enjoy the little splashes of colours.
