Canadian Pacific Railroad, Cookshire, Quebec , 1956
h = 80 in
archival pigment print

Double–headed 2–8–2s on the point of a Canadian Pacific freight train at Cookshire, Quebec, give off a spectacular display of power as they get their train rolling again after a brief water stop. A local farmer, employing his horse–drawn wagon, moves coal from a parked hopper car to a local bin, to help ward off the effects of the cold Canadian winter. This photograph, called "Four Horses—Two Iron," is one of the photographer’s favorites. It is just one example in his large collection of work that features animals.
