This place along a byway near my studio is a very special spot. The sky, movement in the ivy-covered branches and the curve of the lane heading south is deeply satisfying. The spring water flowing down the track behind accumulates in puddles before heading off down a coombe to the left. It’s the immediacy of it all crossed at the same time with the timelessness that makes me want to stop and linger at this place. Above all, these Somerset lanes give a sense of freedom allowing me to travel through and in to the landscape, to escape and to an extent to meditate on our current situation.
