Pepsi Max Cans is characteristic of Fosters practice; the rhythmic mapping in patterned grids focusing on a distilled visual of the Pepsi can.
Faceted patterned grids characterise Martin Forster's minimalist abstract artworks. As he works in coloured pencils on paper in landscape format, his compositions map out methodically drawn squares in rows to create a grid structure, assigning a number to each and colouring. His devotion to his process has remained consistent throughout his practice. The colour palette of each work relates directly to his subject, which focuses on consumables such as the colour of particular soft drinks, ice creams, sweets, tea and their packaging and labels.
Forster has worked at Arts Project Australia since 1999 and presented his first solo exhibition in 2001. He has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions in Melbourne and has work in private collections throughout Australia.
