The Persistence Of Memory Brooch
160 x 150 cm (h x w)

Dali’s third solo exhibition, his first in Paris, was 11 paintings at the Galerie Goemans from November 20 to December 5 1929. Leader of the Surrealist group André Brenton wrote the introduction to the exhibition. Dali was energized by the success of the exhibition, and began to work at a highly productive rate. In the next 16 years he had 20 major solo exhibitions: 9 in New York, 7 in Paris, 2 in London, 1 in Hollywood and 1 in Barcelona. In March 1929 Dali exhibited 5 paintings in a Madrid exhibition named An Exhibition of Painting and Sculpture by Spanish Artists Resident in Paris and in October two pieces in the Abstrakte und surrealistiche Maleri und Plastik (Abstract and Surrealist Painting and Sculpture) exhibition in Zurich. In February and March 1929 Dali published three of his essays.
