Having moved at the beginning of quarantine, my wife and I have been adjusting to a new life of isolation away from our friends, family and co-workers. We are beyond grateful to have each other during these times while continuing to seek out community as much as possible – via online resources, simply walking around the neighborhood or safely supporting local small businesses when we can. In this image, my wife Agatha holds a picture of her Mother who lives just a couple of hours away. We are resigned to video chats until it is okay to visit in person. The stress of moving, uncertainty of employment, and constant anxiety around the news cycle were a few factors I wanted to address with this image. I primarily photograph groups of people and with that off the table for now, turning the camera on ourselves while staying true to the narrative form seemed the obvious respite in this time.
