My work is all about my obsession with the beauty of the lifecycle. This painting is inspired by the decaying flowers in my bedroom. It was the late fall afternoon. I was so moved by the shadow of the decaying red lily petals in the warm sunlight, I desired to catch the gloomy sentiment at that moment. I did not focus on the facial expression; instead I spent most of the time on the figure, the transparency of the fabric, and the flowers on the floor.
