Artist statement
"Full Circle" can mean a series of developments that lead back to the source. In this series of acrylic paintings, I am returning to the center, to the core of what inspires me. The spherical forms are both geometric and organic as the circles evolve and merge into one another. I apply up to twenty-five layers of acrylic gel medium and paint in between these layers.

My paintings feature rich tactile surfaces and colour effects that convey a sense of luminosity. Their conceptual underpinning seeks out universally prevalent patterns found in nature. Rich colours and lines are stacked on top of each other, wiping out and revealing different strata below. I find these designs calming and mesmerizing as the mind's eye searches for hidden patterns.

Biography
Katharine Harvey's 35-year artistic practice ranges from painting to public art. She explores the unseen, the liminal space between reality, the mind's eye, and imagination. She has designed both temporary and permanent installations in Canada, the U.S., and Germany - made of recycled plastic, glass, mosaic, LED lights, and steel.

In 2020, the artist completed two public art commissions in Toronto: a window element and wall mosaics for the TTC's Chester Subway station; and hand-painted glass windows at 25 Richmond Street East for Great Gulf.

She is based in Toronto and has exhibited across Canada and in Hamburg, New York, Los Angeles, Monterey Bay, and Washington. Galerie Borchardt in Hamburg, Germany, represents her work. www.katharineharvey.com
