Bill G. Komodore was born on October 23, 1932 in Athens, Greece. Son of Konstantine B. and Dina K. (Mentis) Koumoundouros. He fought in WWII in the Greek underground. After the war he emigrated to the United States, moving to New York. There he studied at the Hans Hoffman School and with George Rickey, Mark Rothko and David Smith.
Komodore was the recipient of the Bausch & Lomb Science award, 1950 and the Houston Museum award, 1960. He exhibited extensively throughout the US and became full professor of art at Southern Methodist University in 1990. His work is represented in the permanent collections of the National Gallery Art, Washington; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Whitney Museum American Art, New York; Des Moines Art Center, Iowa; the Milwaukee Museum Art, Wisconsin; Hamilton (Ontario, Canada) Gallery Art and the Dallas Museum of Art.
