Digital transformation of Photo
[2022-014]

o thematically revisit and 'remix' one's own, earlier artwork, supposedly already understood as completed, requires courage, self-confidence, and the quality of being able to question oneself and what was previously achieved in order to want to revise what was once figuratively worked out. This way of working also shows maturity. To question the subject matter with new insights in a different medium, and as can be seen in '2022-014 1989-044, Mohnd' to present it reduced to its essence, extracted and almost redefined in terms of content, is an extended approach that gains new facets especially as a result of digitalization.
With such steps, HRW also demonstrates reflection and a special relationship to his own oeuvre. One image may serve as a building body for the next, to approach some topics while thinking in a complete circle. There are many of these eternal confrontations in HRW's work: Illumination and light direction as in the digital reworkings, surf as a landscape element or as a physical one that is then pixelated, trees and passages in vegetation - the recurring handling of such themes also testifies to a persistent thoroughness in re-addressing old questions with new technical means. This can almost be called a scientific approach, since it happens all the time in the natural sciences and is often awarded Nobel prizes in that field.
