A locomotive pauses under the Holton Street Bridge near the old location of the Commerce Street Yard in the heart of present-day downtown Milwaukee. Though little of the Milwaukee Road’s Beer Line trackage remains today, this site, located directly next to Lakefront Brewery, is still recognizable. On your next visit to Lakefront, enjoy a beer flight on the waterfront and take a stroll through history on the Oak Leaf Trail, which rests on top of the once great Beer Line. Abbey-01-148-10
