Hummingbird Cross Stitch (Detail) | Point de croix de colibri (détail)
24 x 16 in (h x w)
Cross stitch

Cross Stitch is a metaphor for the journey of life. With one stitch at a time, taking one step at a time, we try not to be overwhelmed by the big picture. And, over time, we complete something beautiful to share with others. This cross-stitch is a detail of a larger work that took me 400 hours to complete. It’s a memorial to my late husband who loved hummingbirds. I intend to have it framed, and will give it to my husband’s daughters to help them in their grief journey.

My name is Karynne Campbell, and I’ve been living with Multiple Sclerosis for 36 years since I was 14 years old. I am a long-term patient in a post-acute care hospital. Doing Cross Stitch helps me maintain my fine motor skills and spatial acuity. It also enhances my spiritual well-being and mental health. It helps me practice patience!
