Phil Davies is from Canada and has been an artist at heart since very young. As a full-time artist he is engaged with the Artworks program since January 2000. It makes him very happy to come in to work each day. His work, the artistry and aesthetics is inspired by many artists and the environment. Widely travelled he has learnt to appreciate other cultures. He loves to show his Canadian roots and nature in his themes and colours.

His artwork inspired by Frida Kahlo shows an elk standing in a BC forest where the trees are tall, the leaves are green. The strong elk, which is strong and confident with big antlers stops to look around him. He used little marker strokes and bold colour blocks to capture this majestic moment.
