Snowflakes , 2021
Rolled paper strips on card stock; artist-painted watercolour behind snowflakes.

Quilling uses thin strips of paper (we used 1/4" strips from a paper shredder) that are rolled into coils (closed end) or scrolls (open end) and then shaped with the fingers and arranged into a design. Smaller coils and scrolls can be made by rolling the paper tightly around a very small needle and larger coils and scrolls can be formed by rolling the paper around a small dowel. Paper strips can also be rolled by hand so that the size can be controlled.
