Honouring Freddie Mercury , 2021
Adobe Photoshop

For this collage, I portrayed the lead singer of my favourite band Queen, Freddie Mercury. I believe it’s important to represent Mercury through my art as he continues to influence positive change in the community through his music and persona even after he died in 1991. Mercury actively changed the presumptions of rock music by displaying "femininity" through clothing and vocal range in a preconceived hyper-masculine music genre. Today, Mercury is known not only to have been a part of one of the greatest rock bands but also to be an icon for the LGBTQ+ community and inspire people to embrace their true selves.
