Gun
Found object assemblage

The artist has created this sculpture of an American rifle using an assemblage of discarded and recycled materials. Although highly realistic in its scale and attention to detail it is also a disarming and decorative object.

Andre Robillard was interned in a mental hospital in France at the age of thirty, where he created a vast number of artistic constructions, including rifles, rockets, spacecraft, and animals. His artwork is collected by several major museums around the world.

I selected Gun because I was interested in the similarities between this artwork and the imaginative drawings of Manuel Bonifacio, also featured in this exhibition, who was fascinated by comparable subject matter.
