This lively image painting is a mysterious collection of things which seem unrelated, but which appear to have a deeper meaning. Classic fairy tale toadstools grow in the foreground, a pink cat with its back turned away from us stands facing an open umbrella, and a peculiar yellow rabbit-type creature faces us from the background.

Jonathan Pettit primarily makes paintings depicting mythical beings, mischievous creatures, woodland animals, and forest plants, as well as characters from fairy tales and nursery rhymes. He creates surreal scenes blending objects from the real world, with weird and wonderful creations from his imagination.

I chose this artwork because it shows an alternative reality and because it features animals which I am particularly interested in.
