New York

Alec Uittenbosch

Alec began fiddling around with a camera at an early age. Throughout high school he was the group’s archivist, recording himself and his friends as they careered through the streets of Melbourne. He loved storytelling, and the lens was the perfect medium through which to tell his own stories.
A talented graffiti and visual artist, as well as the former bass guitarist and leader of Melbourne-based indie-rock band, the Brungas, Alec has consistently centred his creative pursuits around the camera. One way or another, everything he does ends up in a coil of film or crammed into a JPEG file.
Over the past few years, Alec has established himself as one of Melbourne’s most notable up-and-coming directors. The self-taught 24-year-old has won awards at several domestic and international film festivals, including, but not limited to, the Europe Film Festival, Paris Play Film Festival and, St Kilda’s very own, Under the Radar Festival.
At the moment, Alec is working on his first short film, Grief Rider. Written and directed by Alec, it headlines a list of other projects he has undertaken in the first half of 2021, including several fashion-related projects connected to ICHPIG and Bye Bambi as well as David Jones and RMIT.
With big dreams and an even bigger heart, Alec intends to wed his street-style aesthetics and background with his experiences in corporate photography and film to continue to wield the camera as a visual storyteller.

"New York Lights"
Description: I felt extremely anxious in New York. I met up with dancers I met through Facebook. The rest is history.
