Don’t let greenwashing wash your brain.
In 2021, there is a global awareness about climate change, still the majority
of the people continue to buy fast fashion. At the same time, those
corporations are using “greenwashing”, which means that they use
environmental cause for marketing. As an example, H&M position
themselves as a sustainable brand, with an eco-friendly collection called
“Conscious” and slogan like “there is no planet B” written on t-shirt.
This installation use the conscious collection as a starting point and criticize
the non-visibility on the production, transport and impact of the fast fashion
industry.
To point this out, the asterix character (*) have been add to the collection
name, which allow to show the truth about clothing production. In this case
the asterix report the consumer to the back of the shirt to highlight the irony
of the term “Conscious” H&M uses.
