Ben Rogers’ work explores themes of nature domesticated, the home, and concepts such as the ‘transitory,’ as seen in the ‘Vanitas’ and ‘Memento mori’ traditions of still life painting.

He draws on a diverse range of influences such as Chinese painting and calligraphy, mid to late 20th century design, and Odlion Redon, among other 19th century exponents of the still life tradition. Rogers’ work seeks to synthesise these elements to create a continuation of the practice of still life image making, and a musing on contemporary domesticity.

Rogers’ prints displayed here, are screen prints created by combining original Indian ink drawings and textures, articulating the mark as both a means of depicting Chiaroscuro and the essence of natural form in the tradition of Chinese painting

Rogers graduated from Winchester College of Art in 1997, and has had a successful career in the fashion textile industry designing for clients such as Anthropologie, Zara and Louis Vuitton. In 2019 he began his journey as a printmaker as a means of extending and exploring themes that had inspired him throughout his career.
