Ralph Overill is a printmaking artist, educator and researcher. His practice investigates monsters and margins; through exploration of the wildernesses and wastelands of his home county of Essex, he imagines and remembers cult horror and sci-fi villains inhabiting these disregarded spaces, using redundant printmaking and photographic processes to capture, merge and transform these ideas. Ralph sees the edge-land as a site of potential and possibility - somewhere (or nowhere) where something can happen. As remembered films and recycled culture impress themselves onto these roadsides and riverpaths, our fears and dreams are reflected back at us between the fencing and foliage.

Recent projects have included a 10-mile walk along the A127 Southend Arterial Road where the artist connected the dystopian, temporally disrupted landscape to James Cameron's 1984 film 'The Terminator'.

Ralph graduated with an MA in printmaking from Camberwell College of Arts in 2011 and has been awarded the Clifford Chance Purchase Prize and Curwen Studio Prize for his work. He currently facilitates printmaking at Havering College and is studying for a Professional Doctorate in Fine Art at University of East London.
