Stephanie Draper combines printmaking and painting to tell stories of the impact that we have on each other and the environment.

Her multilayer prints combine drypoint, non-toxic etchings and collagraph to create black and white maps, overlaid with landscapes or plants that can be found in the places on the maps. They draw heavily on the natural world. She is fascinated with how global concerns manifest in specific places.

Her current work is focused on Alaska - one of the last wildernesses, but where climate change is resulting in shrinking glaciers and water flowing into different valleys. The large maps reflect the awe of these wild places, with gold etchings that afford a value to the lichens and vistas presented. Nature is further amplified in forest and cow parsley.

Stephanie learned printmaking at University of Creative Arts, Farnham and has developed her art practice at Newlyn School of Art.

She regularly exhibits with recent shows at the PZ Gallery, Penzance and galleries in Chichester and Reigate. A collection of her work is held in the Museum of Farnham, and brought together in a book ‘Words and Colours: Reflections on Lockdown’. She exhibited at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair in 2018 and 2019.
