Lesley O'Neill's work explores the essence of whom we are in the world as individuals when faced with trauma, whilst trying to keep a 'dark' sense of humour.

Her process is as important as the subject matter. Wood for its harshness and unpredictability. Lino for its skin like texture and the ability to be more precise. Ripping pieces away and scarring what is left.

In her most recent work, seen here, the narrative has shifted slightly to show characters from childhood.
She crochets 'dolls'.
Arranges them into scenarios and photographs.
Collages, draws and transfers the image onto the surface.
Altering once more as the cutting progresses.
When inking up she prints the lighter colours first, then uses stencils to block whilst the darker colour is printed.
Lesley's editions are small.

She graduated from the Slade with an MA in Fine Art Printmaking, exhibiting during and after education for a further six years.
After a life-changing event she stopped and started again in 2020. Since then she has participated in six virtual exhibitions and two in the 'flesh'.

Lesley's work is held in private collections.
